N-iX is looking for a Senior Technical Writer to join our Orbus team.
Headquartered in London, our client is an independent software vendor and a leading global provider of software solutions for Enterprise Architecture, Business Process Analysis and Application Portfolio Management. The Client has customers spanning the Americas, EMEA, Australasia and Asia-Pacific regions as well as all verticals sectors, both government and commercial. Core capabilities provided by the Product include an enhanced Microsoft Visio diagramming interface, a powerful central repository for all enterprise architecture or business process models and documentation, and a range of tools for visualization, analysis and decision making.
Requirements:
- Excellent English writing and speaking skills are essential
- Detail-oriented, organized, and proactive person to create precise, consistent, and clear documentation
- Excellent cross-functional communication skills, requiring close interaction with Product Owners, UX/UI Designers, QA, Developers, and non-technical Stakeholders
- Experience with API documentation (Swagger) is required
- Experience with MS Office tools, SharePoint, HTML, Markdown
- An ability to recognize areas for improvement, and provide proactive suggestions based on previous experience
- Confidence in designing and delivering technical documentation according to DDLC and software documentation style guides
- Ability to understand complex business and system requirements
- An understanding of change control and document change management
- Ability to work with the minimum of supervision
Responsibilities:
- Convey technical material in a concise and effective manner which is appropriate for its intended audience
- Quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures (Snagit)
- Document existing and new functionality by working with POs and Stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle, using development artefacts (Stories and Features) and interviewing SMEs
- Maintain a consistent user voice and tone that permeates through all text and documentation represented in Orbus
- Create a detailed user documentation for use within the application such as operating instructions and “FAQ” pages
- Work with and educate other documentation stakeholders to ensure standardization and commonality across product documentation assets
- Ownership of product documentation, suggesting improvements and areas for expansion
- Select an appropriate medium for the intended audience. This includes working with other departments to incorporate existing assets and video training
- Gather feedback on deliverables as revise as new issues arise
- Review all customer facing documentation to ensure it meets expected style and standards
- Curate and manage the internal technical Wiki, advising teams on usage and content management
- Review and advise teams on application UI text changes, and in some cases updating this
Desirable:
- Experience of creating guides from entirely technical sources is preferable
- Experience of using a Wiki based format is preferable but by no means essential
- Experience with team collaboration tools (Azure DevOps/TFS, Teams, etc.)
- Experience with Snagit
- Experience with Umbraco CMS
- Basic understanding of UX
