Senior Database Administrator (#1291)

N-iX is looking for a Senior Database Administrator who can become a part of our team. Our Client is a financial technology company based in California, one of the leading companies in this sector, with a buy now, pay later service.

Requirements:

• 5 years of DBA experience
• Strong understanding and experience in MySQL administration
• AWS experience, ideally with prior DevOps AWS experience
• Knowledge and experience with managing/operating AWS Aurora, MySQL and ProxySQL, Kubernetes

Would be a plus:

• AWS S3 / AWS certification
• MySQL 5 to 8 migration experience 

Responsibilities:

• Database Operations and Administration
• 24x7 reactive and proactive support for OLTP databases - hands-on monitoring and
  support to keep our databases running at peak performance
• Always-on emergency support - around-the-clock availability to ensure problems are
  resolved as quickly as possible.
• Incident management and root cause analysis services
• On-call runbooks, report cards, weekly health check, and monthly/quarterly operational
  review
• Patching, upgrades, updates, scaling (e.g., capacity planning), backups and Disaster
  Recovery/Business Continuity Plan support
• Project-based work (e.g., MySQL 5.x -> 8.0 upgrades)
• Performance tuning, training, optimization (e.g., SQL, DB parameter tuning, indexes,
  table design, data partitioning recommendations, etc.)
• Data model change management reviews
• Prior knowledge and experience with managing/operating AWS Aurora MySQL and

Batch jobs performance tuning and migration

• Evaluate and tune batch pipelines (e.g., Airflow DAGs, Luigi, Apache Spark)
• Prior knowledge of Batch frameworks like Airflow, Luigi, Spark, experience working with data lake frameworks.
• Batch pipeline migration strategy and best practices support
• Hands-on batch pipeline migration support from MySQL DB to the data lake including
  testing, performance tuning, and cut-over support.
