About our customer:

Our customer is the biggest packing company in the world. He is the leading provider of paper-based packaging in the world, with operations in 22 European countries, 13 countries in the Americas, and 1 country in Africa.

They manufacture a wide range of papers mainly used for packaging purposes. They design, manufacture and supply paper-based packaging to package. Their experience and expertise is to constantly update their packing design and innovations to provide the optimum choice and packaging supplies.

About the role:

We are seeking an experienced Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) who specializes in performing database patching tasks for live systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Oracle database administration, with specific expertise in applying patches and updates to ensure the stability, security, and performance of production databases. This role requires a meticulous attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Database Patch Management:

  • Plan, schedule, and execute Oracle database patching activities for live production systems.
  • Evaluate and analyze patch releases from Oracle Corporation, assessing their applicability and impact on existing database environments.
  • Develop and maintain patching strategies and procedures to minimize downtime and mitigate risks during patch application.
  • Coordinate with system administrators, application developers, and stakeholders to schedule maintenance windows and implement patching activities with minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Monitor patching progress and troubleshoot any issues or failures encountered during the patching process.

Requirements:

  • Experience with Oracle Database patching: Familiarity with the latest Oracle bundle patch
  • Knowledge of Oracle Database upgrades: Ability to update both earlier and new release Oracle Database before starting upgrades or downgrades.
  • Understanding of patch delivery methods: Proficiency in proactive maintenance with routine quarterly patch bundles and reactive maintenance with one-off patches.
  • Familiarity with patching tools: Knowledge of tools for lifecycle management and automated patching.
  • Problem-solving skills: Ability to troubleshoot patch conflicts and apply corrective measures efficiently.
