We are looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to join our team!
Our customer is the European online car market with over 30 million monthly users, with a market presence in 18 countries. Become part of our Platform Engineering team and enable engineering teams to deliver software quickly and reliably, living our “you build it, you run it” approach. We are responsible for internal core infrastructure products, like our centralized Kubernetes cluster, and managed CI/CD solutions, used across 30+ teams. Topics like scalability, resilience, observability, and resource optimization are part of our daily conversations. We invest in self-service and a product mindset with an emphasis on developer experience to increase our impact. We also contribute to the improvement of the architecture, engineering practices, and processes across the company. The ideal candidate for this role is someone who has a background in Software Engineering (Java) and Platform Engineering, and who’s able to work with different teams on establishing and promoting engineering best practices.
Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of the end-to-end operations of the products managed by your team.
- Keep your team's products up to date by leveraging a modern, state-of-the-art tech stack.
- Collaborate closely with an Engineering Manager and cross-functional tech teams to identify and solve critical problems.
- Influence architectural decisions, choose the right technologies, and develop infrastructure products that meet business needs.
- Support engineers using your team's products, participate in on-call rotations, and troubleshoot production incidents.
- Lead key projects and initiatives, taking ownership of their successful execution.
- Be a bar-raiser within the company by defining and advocating best practices for safe code deployment.
- Develop the tools that empower teams to adopt these practices.
Requirements:
- Strong understanding of core IaaS concepts such as compute, storage, networking, and identity management.
- Experience with IaaS cloud providers, particularly AWS (experience with Azure, GCP, etc., also considered).
- Expertise in Platform Engineering and/or DevOps principles, with a focus on automation and reliability.
- Excellent problem-solving and collaboration skills, with a solution-oriented mindset.
- Deep knowledge of CI/CD processes and best practices for safely deploying code.
- A passion for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Pipeline as Code (e.g., CDK, CloudFormation).
- Solid understanding of observability concepts and experience with monitoring tools like AWS CloudWatch, Datadog, and OpsGenie.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language, ideally Python, Golang, or TypeScript.
- Familiarity with GitHub Actions is a plus.
