N-iX is looking for a Lead/Senior Power BI Engineer to join our team! Our customer is one of the world’s largest food and beverage companies, operating in 189 countries with over 2000 brands. The company’s diverse portfolio includes products such as bottled water, dairy products, breakfast cereals, coffee, confectionery, frozen food, pet foods, snacks, and baby food.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain optimized business intelligence solutions with a focus on performance
- Present information through high-performance reports and complex visualizations tailored to business needs
- Translate business requirements into advanced technical specifications and scalable data models
- Design, build, and deploy BI solutions with a focus on efficiency and scalability for large datasets
- Maintain and support data analytics platforms, ensuring optimized query performance
- Assist QA Engineers with testing, troubleshooting, and performance tuning of BI solutions
- Evaluate and improve existing BI solutions for performance, reusability, and scalability
- Conduct analyses with a strong focus on query optimization and data efficiency
- Create technical documentation to support scalable Power BI solutions
- Work with complex Power BI datasets, ensuring robust performance and scalability for large data volumes
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience as a BI Engineer or Microsoft Power BI Specialist
- Advanced DAX experience, including writing and optimizing complex DAX formulas, with a focus on performance tuning
- Strong understanding of Power BI performance analysis tools (DAX Studio, Performance Analyzer, Server Timings) to identify bottlenecks and improve model efficiency
- Experience with Tabular Editor and XMLA endpoints for large data model management and performance optimization
- SQL proficiency, with a solid understanding of optimizing complex queries and analyzing query plans
- Experience with large-scale datasets in Power BI and SSAS
- Experience in optimizing data refresh cycles and managing incremental refreshes to support high-performance BI solutions
- Familiarity with DAX context transition and calculation groups for streamlined and high-performing data models
- Proven ability to analyze and debug performance issues across large-scale data environments, with an understanding of advanced data modeling techniques
- Knowledge of Power BI's engine architecture (including formula and storage engines) for performance optimization
- Knowledge of Python programming language
- Strong analytical skills with an aptitude for identifying performance bottlenecks and solving complex BI problems
Nice to Have:
- Experience with Snowflake, understanding its pricing and processing model
- Knowledge of scripting tools such as PowerShell for automating tasks and C# for managing Power BI tabular models
- Experience with data visualization libraries (e.g., DENEB/Vega) for custom report visualizations
