About the client:
Our customer is the Canadian online car market with over 30 million monthly users, with a market presence in 18 countries. As a Senior Technical Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of online car markets and enhancing the user experience for millions of car buyers and sellers.
This role requires a strong technical background in data tracking, analytics, and project management. The ideal candidate will oversee the implementation and optimization of tracking systems, ensuring data consistency and usability across platforms enabling product teams to develop the best possible products.
The TPM will collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage tracking requirements, and align stakeholders on key metrics and KPIs to drive data-informed decision-making. Experience with Google Tag Manager (GTM), Google Analytics (GA), BigQuery, and Optimizely for A/B testing is highly desirable. The TPM will also shape the future tracking harmonization strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead project focused on implementing, optimizing, and maintaining tracking systems to enable consistent data collection.
- Oversee tracking configuration across GTM, GA (GA4 and Universal Analytics), and BigQuery, ensuring seamless data flow and integration.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and analytics teams to define tracking requirements and troubleshoot data inconsistencies.
- Ensure best practices in data tracking and recommend improvements in tooling or methodology to enhance data reliability.
- Manage Optimizely usage and support teams in setting up and analyzing A/B tests.
- Provide guidance on how to structure experiments, interpret results, and integrate insights into business decisions.
- Act as the primary point of contact between data, product, and engineering teams, ensuring tracking aligns with business needs.
- Define and communicate tracking standards to proactively address data requirements early in the development cycle.
- Facilitate clear documentation and communication of tracking specifications, including tagging guidelines and data governance policies.
- Proactively identify risks, dependencies, and challenges, working with stakeholders to mitigate issues before they impact project timelines.
- Maintain a structured approach to managing and reporting project progress, aligning with stakeholders on expectations and outcomes.
Key Skills & Competencies
- 3+ years of experience in technical program management, product management, or data tracking roles.
- Technical expertise in Google Tag Manager (GTM), Google Analytics (GA4 & UA), and BigQuery.
- Experience working with Optimizely or similar A/B testing platforms is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and AWS is a plus.
- Previous experience working with cross-functional teams (product, engineering, and analytics) in a fast-paced international environment
- Data Tracking & Analytics - Deep understanding of web analytics, event tracking, and data flows.
- Project Management - Ability to manage multiple initiatives, prioritize tasks, and align teams on deliverables.
- Technical Problem-Solving - Hands-on experience troubleshooting data collection and tracking challenges.
- Stakeholder Management - Ability to communicate complex tracking concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
