N-iX is looking for experienced Junior Data Analyst to take a role in the development of a new Legislative Tracker platform, designed to monitor and analyze political and legislative developments in the UK. 

Responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for updating the database through Microsoft SSMS and for developing new queries and data extraction methods.
  • Contribute to the development of data collection methods through web data extraction and data ingestion tools, maintaining and sharing best practice to help ensure all delivery processes are as efficient as possible both in terms of resource and practice.
  • Be the primary point of contact for technical queries and data requests relating to UK Reference Data
  • Collate information for the weekly newsletter, and assist with data collection involved with Dods’ quarterly and annual book publications.
  • Be vigilant for potential spikes in workload relating to the datasets (eg. Publications, Elections, Institutional restructures) and work with the Reference Data Manager to plan and ensure we meet reasonable client expectations.
  • Assist in the the development of the reference datasets and related products.
  • Assist in the delivery of other products produced by the department when required (e.g. during high workload periods).
  • Liaise with Sales, Marketing and Monitoring teams to improve our service provision and develop content to help promote the departments work.
  • Be responsible for the delivery of accurate and reliable online data, primarily within the UK Civil Service, Devolved and Local Government datasets. Maintain a high standard in accordance to update schedules, best practice and house style guidelines.

Requirements: 

  • Experience in data engineering, management, or analysis roles, particularly involving structured and unstructured data.
  • Proficient in SQL and demonstrated ability to work with relational databases using tools such as Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent for internal dashboards and reporting.
  • Proficient using MS Office applications, especially Excel, and adept at learning new software packages
  • Knowledge of API Configuration and Data Ingestion Pipelines, including RESTful APIs, ETL processes, and workflow automation.
  • Ability to work accurately with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to use your own initiative and priorities tasks.
  • Ability to learn, follow and ultimately develop working processes.
  • Good English communication skills, written and spoken.
  • Team player with a flexible approach.

Would be a plus:

  • Excellent awareness and insight of UK politics and its institutional structures, particularly regarding the UK Civil Service, Devolved administrations and local Government.
  • Hands-on Experience in Web Scraping and Data Extraction, including using tools/languages like Python.
  • Experience with Python for Data Engineering.
  • Familiarity with Cloud Platforms like Azure, AWS, or GCP, particularly their data services.
