Currently, we are looking for VAT Content Analyst to join Client`s team.

About the project:
Our client, an award-winning global tax services and software provider, is the largest Firm in the world dedicated exclusively to business taxes. With global headquarters in Dallas, Texas, the Firm provides an integrated suite of federal, state, local, and international tax services on a multijurisdictional basis, including tax recovery, consulting, advocacy, compliance, and technology services.
The ideal candidate possesses a solid background in indirect tax compliance, with a proven ability to interpret and apply tax legislation effectively. This is a hands-on research and analysis role involving legislative monitoring, drafting VAT return mappings, assessing the impact of VAT rule changes, and close collaboration with internal engineering and product teams, as well as external local VAT experts. The client team is located in Braga, Portugal.

Responsibilities:

  • Legislative Research, Monitoring and Review: Proactively monitor VAT legislative changes across assigned jurisdictions, identify changes, and evaluate how legislative updates affect VAT logic, VAT return structures, reporting fields, and existing mappings within the VAT.com platform
  • VAT Return Mapping & Content Development: Conduct VAT return mappings for new jurisdictions based on official VAT guides, legislation, and reporting manuals. Interpret local return structures, determine line-level logic, and align external rules to VAT.com's internal tax code framework
  • Ongoing Content Maintenance: Assist in periodic reviews and audits of existing rules to maintain platform accuracy and reliability
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product, Engineering, and Quality Assurance teams to implement VAT logic updates, validate outputs, and participate in end-to-end testing of VAT return outputs to ensure functional correctness and audit-readiness
  • Documentation & Knowledge Management: maintain structured documentation of legislative sources, VAT mapping logic, and change history.

Requirements

  • Degree in accounting, economics, law, or a similar field
  • 2+ years of experience in VAT compliance or VAT advisory
  • Strong understanding of indirect tax principles and experience reading legislation, interpreting regulatory guidance, and summarizing complex tax topics
  • Analytical mindset with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)

Nice to have:

  • Experience with multi-jurisdiction VAT compliance in Europe or globally
  • Exposure to tax technology, ERP systems, or VAT reporting tools
