Are you ready to shape the future of fintech with cutting-edge technology and deep regional impact?
Join us as a Data Engineer and help power our next-generation platform for multi-country cloud analytics and consumer financing, transforming the way financial inclusion and credit solutions are delivered to thousands of end users and merchant partners across countries in Latin America.
About Us and the Role
We are a fast-growing multinational financial technology (Fintech) leader transforming financial inclusion and consumer credit across Latin America. We build innovative financing solutions.
We are currently undergoing a major regional data platform modernization, constructing a high-performance, event-driven, multi-country cloud analytics architecture. We seek a motivated Data Engineer with 1–3+ years of technical experience who thrives in modern data stack environments—balancing hands-on engineering with data quality standards, collaborative execution, and disciplined software development practices.
Your main strength will be SQL, Python, and dbt (data build tool) for decoupled semantic modeling in Snowflake, while having a strong background in Airflow, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud environments (GCP/AWS/Azure) will be considered a major plus.
As a core member of our data engineering team, you will engage across BI, Data Science, and regional business units, ensuring that all data transformations follow automated testing, strict Git versioning, and centralized architecture standards.
What You'll Do
- Decoupled Data Modeling: Build, maintain, and optimize ELT/ETL pipelines and modular semantic models in Snowflake using dbt as the mandatory transformation standard.
- Automated Data Quality & Testing: Implement and enforce Data Quality Frameworks (e.g., dbt tests, automated validation checks) to guarantee high data integrity, freshness, and accuracy across staging, intermediate, and data mart layers.
- Version Control & CI/CD Enforcement: Ensure all data transformations and Python scripts are fully version-controlled in Git and integrated into CI/CD workflows, completely eliminating unversioned or isolated local script execution.
- Platform Operations & Monitoring: Assist in resolving operational incidents in data pipelines and monitor daily multi-country ingestion and transformation workflows.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Senior Data Engineers, BI teams, and business analysts to translate business requirements into scalable, well-documented data models.
- Technical Documentation: Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, data dictionaries, lineage, and cataloging standards within the data platform.
What We're Looking For
- Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience: 3+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering, data warehousing, or software engineering.
- Core Technical Stack:
- SQL & Snowflake: Advanced SQL skills (complex queries, window functions, query optimization) and hands-on experience with Snowflake architecture (Virtual Warehouses, micro-partitioning, RBAC).
- Mandatory dbt Experience: Proven experience using dbt for data modeling, semantic layer management, and decoupled transformations in a cloud data warehouse.
- Python Scripting: Intermediate to advanced Python skills for data manipulation, utility automation, and custom pipeline tasks.
- Software Engineering Best Practices:
- Strict experience with Git version control and pull request (PR) workflows.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and modern software engineering practices applied to data (DataOps).
- Familiarity with Data Quality Frameworks and automated testing strategies.
- Collaboration & Soft Skills: Strong analytical skills, attention to detail for anomaly detection, and a collaborative mindset for multi-country, cross-functional projects.
- Language Skills: Technical proficiency in English for documentation and technical stack navigation; clear written and verbal communication skills.
Nice to Haves (Differentiating Factors)
- Experience with orchestration platforms (Apache Airflow or Prefect).
- Hands-on knowledge of at least one major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- SnowPro Core Certification.
- Prior experience in Fintech, Banking, Consumer Credit, or E-commerce industries.
- Familiarity with BI visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker).
Why Join Us?
- Be part of a high-impact fintech transforming financial inclusion across 8 Latin American countries.
- Work on a modern, event-driven multi-country cloud analytics architecture featuring state-of-the-art technologies (Snowflake, dbt, Cloud).
