Right at the end of 2021, our partner Orbus Software, a global provider of software solutions for Enterprise Architecture, organized the first Orbus Hackathon as part of Program Increment Planning.
N-iX experts, who work side by side with Orbus teams in London, also joined the Hackathon. Since 2014, N-iX has partnered with Orbus Software and our specialists have been integral members of their “Development Tribes”. Together, we’ve worked on multiple solutions like the release of their flagship products – iServer and iServer365, the next generation SaaS platform for architecting IT Solutions.
Orbus Hackathon gathered DevOps, full-stack, and BI engineers in cross-functional teams. They had to come up with new tech ideas to solve existing or new problems, develop a prototype, then present it – all within 24 hours. Teams were graded on presentation, innovation, solution, business fit and teamwork criteria.
“I was really proud of the teams, especially of the people that were new and had to present ideas to colleagues they have never met before in other Tribes. I think the results showcased the full creative potential of our teams. We at Orbus always encourage people to innovate to produce solutions that later can be integrated into our applications”, says Stephen Parsons, Head of Engineering at Orbus Software.
The winning teams at Orbus Hackathon and the solutions they developed:
- 1. Hackathoners – Customisable dashboard cards for iServer365
- 2. Monadic Quartet – Improved visualisation of Approval tracking in iServer365
- 3. Borch Soft – Telegram messenger bot for iServer Approval notifications
In 2021 around 20 new N-iXers joined the Orbus development team. As they have been working remotely from the start, it was a great opportunity for newcomers to mix with other teammates they’d not normally work with.
